City for All Senses
Feeling embraced by the wonders of nature
“Bringing nature back into the city is a way to deal with urban sprawl. If cities feel a little more natural,
people like to live there rather than moving out and dividing up another piece of land that shouldn’t be touched .” Stone Gossard
Spending time in nature reduces stress and anxiety, and improves our mood and our cognitive abilities.
Nature can also inspire us to be creative, spark our imaginations, and inspire the creation of works of art,
literature, and music. The purpose of this module is to bring nature closer to the students, to our schools,
homes, and cities.
This module is divided into the following chapters:
- Delicious City: Growing Food in the City
- Pollination Paradise
- Sounds vs. noise
- Wicked Weed
- Interacting with Nature
All materials on this topic (curriculum, concrete activities to use in school and animated videos)
will be available free of charge as open educational resources in 2024.
